Approach to the differential diagnosis of cecostomy tube malfunction:
- The correct position of the cecostomy tube tip should be in the cecum of the colon, otherwise tip is malpositioned
- Suspect cecostomy tubes should be injected with water soluble contrast looking for malposition of tube tip outside of cecum in retroperitoneum
