Approach to the differential diagnosis of diffuse thyroid disease:
- Causes of diffuse thyroid disease can be difficult to differentiate between on the basis of ultrasound appearance alone
- Consideration must be given to working up any focal nodule seen in a patient with diffuse thyroid disease
