- Subependymal cyst from in-utero neonatal intraventricular hemorrhage grade I
- Choroid plexus cyst
- Connatal cyst
- Periventricular leukomalacia cavitation
- Periventricular hemorrhage cavitation
Approach to differential diagnosis of premature brain cysts:
- Subependymal cyst from in-utero neonatal intraventricular hemorrhage grade I is located in the germinal matrix
- Choroid plexus cyst is located in the choroid plexus
- Connatal cyst is located just lateral to the superolateral angles of the anterior horns of the lateral ventricles
- Periventricular leukomalacia cavitation usually occurs as a bilateral process
- Periventricular hemorrhage cavitation usually occurs as a unilateral process
