Gastric Duplication
Etiology: Abnormal budding of gastrointestinal tract lined with gastrointestinal epithelium which may communicate with enteric lumen proper
Imaging US: Cystic lesion with echogenic rim sign = enteric signature (gut signature) = hyperechoic inner layer of cyst representing bowel mucosa
DDX: Ovarian cyst, mesenteric cyst, omental cyst
Complications: May cause obstruction, bleeding
Treatment: Elective surgical removal

Radiology Cases of Gastric Duplication
Transverse (above) and sagittal (below) US of the left upper quadrant of the abdomen shows a large round anechoic lesion anterior to the stomach. The inner layer of the lesion is hyperechoic (echogenic rim sign).Lateral image from an UGI shows narrowing of the antrum of the stomach, which persisted throughout the exam. Sagittal US of the same region shows a cystic mass with an echogenic central rim.
