Pediatric Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis

  • Etiology: immune mediated inhalational diffuse lung disease involving organic or inorganic antigens < 5 microns in diameter that are deposited in alveoli and lead to small airway inflammation and fibrosis, classic antigen is a fungus
  • Imaging: non-fibrotic has nodules / ground glass opacity / air trapping, fibrotic has scarring and end stage lung disease
