Etiology: Opiates, sepsis
Imaging AXR: On AXR supine the gastrointestinal tract is distended with air from the stomach to the rectum, on AXR upright air fluid levels are seen in the small bowel and colon
DDX: Small bowel obstruction
Complications:
Treatment: Decrease the opiates, treat the sepsis
Clinical: Commonly seen in post operative patients
