Lacunar Skull
Etiology: — Nothing to do with intracranial pressure — Appropriate fetal ventricular expansion and intracranial pressure leads to collagen bundle of calvarial plates being arranged in orderly radial fashion — In patients with myelomeningocele ventricular pressure is decompressed into dilated cerebrospinal fluid space resulting in disordered arrangement of collage bundle and thus lacunar appearance of skull
Imaging:
DDX:
Complications:
Treatment: Spontaneous resolution by 6 months
Clinical: Associated with Chiari II malformation
Radiology Cases of Lacunar Skull
Lateral radiograph of the skull shows a disordered arrangement of the inner table of the skull.
