Pediatric Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

  • Etiology: A group of blood cancers that includes all types of lymphoma except Hodgkin lymphoma
  • Imaging:
    — Lobular and bulky mass of lymphadenopathy
    — Bulk mediastinal disease is defined as involving greater than 1/3 of the diameter of chest
  • DDX:
  • Complications:
  • Treatment:
  • Clinical:
    — At presentation can cause airway compression and superior vena cava syndrome
    — Lymphoblastic lymphoma is rare type of fast-growing non-Hodgkin lymphoma which is similar to acute lymphocytic leukemia and is treated in similar way

Radiology Cases of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

CT of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
Axial CT with contrast of the chest shows anterior mediastinal lymphadenopathy, a large right pleural effusion, and pleural nodules.

Radiology Cases of Lymphoblastic Lymphoma

CT of lymphoblastic lymphoma
Axial CT with contrast of the chest shows cervical and supraclavicular lymphadenopathy and a large confluent anterior mediastinal mass.

Radiology Cases of Lymphoblastic Lymphoma of the Tibia

Radiograph and MRI of pediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the tibia
AP (left most) and lateral (middle left) radiographs of the tibia and fibula show dense sclerosis of the middle and lower tibia along with cortical thickening of the middle and lower tibia and some fine periosteal reaction. Coronal T1 MRI without contrast of the tibia (middle right) shows the bone marrow in the middle and lower tibia to be abnormally hypointense. Coronal T1 MRI with contrast (right most) shows diffuse enhancement of the bone marrow in the middle and lower tibia.
