Megacystic-microcolon Intestinal Hypoperistalsis Syndrome

  • Etiology: Pseudoobstruction of gastrointestinal system and genitourinary system
  • Imaging US: Variable dilation of upper urinary tact and ureters
  • Imaging VCUG:
    — Large capacity patulous bladder often greater than twice expected volume without appearing well distended
    — Variable spontaneous voiding
    — Often little spurts of urine or none
  • Imaging UpperGI:
    — Little to no peristalsis
    — Malrotation
    — Looks like a static tube
  • Imaging Enema: Microcolon

    — Neonate with abdominal distension
