Pediatric Oligodendroglioma
Etiology: Malignant tumor
Imaging CT: — Mass involving cortex or subcortical white matter — Hypodense to isodense — 70-90% calcified — May have hemorrhage — Variable enhancement
Imaging MRI: — T1WI: Hypointense compared to gray matter — T1WI post contrast: Variable enhancement — T2WI: Hyperintense compared to gray matter — GRE: Blooming due to calcification — SWI: Blooming due to calcification
DDX:

Clinical: Usually presents with seizures
Radiology Cases of Oligodendroglioma
Axial CT without contrast of the brain (above left) shows a right parietal ill-defined subcortical hypodensity. Axial (above right) and coronal (below right) T2 MRI of the brain show right parietal subcortical hyperdensities with associated cortical thickening that on axial T1 MRI with contrast (below left) shows minimal enhancement.
