  • Etiology: Blunt trauma against closed glottis or AP compression of chest causes tear in trachea or carina or mainstem bronchus close to carina
  • Imaging CXR:
    — Pneumomediastinum
    — Massive air leak
    — Unrelenting pneumothorax
  • Imaging CT:
    — Tear in trachea or carina or mainstem bronchus close to carina
    — Fallen lung sign
  • DDX:
  • Complications:
  • Treatment: Surgical
  • Clinical: Little improvement im imaging appearance after chest tube
