Pediatric Umbilical Granuloma

  • Etiology:
  • Imaging: Round hyperechoic lesion with hypoechoic rim that is close to the umbilical stump
  • DDX: Umbilical polyp, umbilical hernia, urachal remmant
  • Complications:
  • Treatment: Chemical cauterization using silver nitrate or surgery if cauterization fails
  • Clinical: Most common umbilical lesion in newborns and infants
