Approach to the differential diagnosis of neonatal cholestasis:
- Begin with an ultrasound to look at the gallbladder and biliary tree and to assess for a choledochal cyst
- Consider hepatobiliary scintigraphy to distinguish between neonatal hepatitis and biliary atresia
