Transverse (above) and sagittal (below) color doppler US of the breast show a poorly defined retroareolar mass that has a hyperemic thick wall with a multiloculated hypoechoic center. The surrounding subcutaneous fat is hyperechoic.
The diagnosis was mastitis evolving into a breast abscess.
